Cách trồng cây phong nhật bản - phần 2

Tài liệu này mình dịch từ tiếng Nhật, nên thời điểm và những đặc trưng viết dưới đây là cho người Nhật, về Việt Nam có thể có chút thay đổi nên bạn dựa theo đó và điều chỉnh cho phù hợp nhé. Ví dụ, tài liệu ghi đông kỳ là từ tháng 12 đến tháng 2 nhưng ở Việt Nam, trồng cây vào tháng 2 được coi là mùa xuân rồi. Việc này cũng như sự khác biệt về năm tài chính, ở Nhật năm tài chính không bắt đầu từ tháng 1 (dù Tết dương là 1/1) như của Việt Nam.

Cây phong thích ánh sáng vì vậy sẽ thích hợp trồng ở ngoài trời. Nắng gắt mùa hè có thể gây ra cháy lá đặc biệt là cây non. Mùa hè, cây cũng cần tưới nhiều nước hơn vì lượng nước thoát ra từ lá lớn. Chi tiết về cách chăm sóc, thay chậu, bón phân, sâu bệnh...vào các thời điểm trong năm như sau:

 

Mùa Đông (tháng 12 - tháng 5)

Vào thời kỳ lạnh giá, cần chú ý việc tưới nước. Nên giữ cho đất khô cả ngày (người dịch bổ sung: nếu bạn thấy bề mặt khô thì chỉ tưới lướt một chút nước là đủ, còn bề mặt ướt thì lớp đất bên dưới vẫn còn nhiều nước. Thời điểm này cây ngủ đông nên đăc biệt hạn chế cung cấp nước cho cây. Nhiều bạn quan tâm và tưới nhiều quá sẽ phản tác dụng). Việc tưới nước vào cuối ngày cũng có thể làm bầu đất trong chậu chặt lại và gây khó khăn cho việc lên rễ.

Mùa Xuân (tháng 3 - tháng 5)

Thời kỳ này độ lạnh đã giảm và cây đã dần phát triển, nên chú ý độ khô của đất vào thời điểm này. Việc thay chậu (trồng lại) tốt nhất là vào tháng 3. Nếu thay chậu từ trung tuần tháng 4 (lịch Nhật còn có cách tính là thượng tuần, trung tuần và hạ tuần; mỗi tuần đó tính 10 ngày) đến cuối hạ tuần tháng 5 sẽ được coi là muộn và nên tránh vì ảnh hưởng tới việc sinh trưởng.

Ngoài ra, mùa này côn trùng (bọ chét) cũng xuất hiện nên có thể phải xử lý bằng cách phun thuốc diệt côn trùng. Cỏ dại cũng phát triển nên đừng quên nhổ cỏ. Đây cũng là thời điểm cây cần được bón phân.

Trường hợp trồng cây bonsai (trong chậu) và không muốn cây phát triển mạnh thì không bón phân cho tới tháng 5. Ngược lại, nếu muốn cây phát triển mạnh thì có thể bón từ cuối tháng 2 bằng phân hữu cơ (người dịch bổ sung: nhiệt độ tại Tokyo trung bình lạnh hơn Hà Nội 8 độ, nên cái lạnh sẽ đến sớm và kéo dài lâu hơn. Tại Hà Nội, tầm Tết (giữa tháng 2) cây đã dần sinh trưởng thay vì đầu tháng 3 như bên Nhật)

Mùa hè (tháng 6 - tháng 8)

Đây là mùa mưa và cũng là thời kỳ nắng chiếu gắt, vì vậy lúc này là thời điểm cần chăm sóc kỹ lưỡng.
Vào mùa mưa, nắng sẽ giảm hơn nhưng có khả năng bị bệnh nấm mốc.
Nếu trồng cây trên chậu thì cần chú ý thông gió, và phu thuốc diệt nấm nếu cần (các loại thuốc này khá phổ biến ở bất kỳ cửa hàng vật tư nông nghiệp hoặc phố bán cây cảnh)
Nếu bị côn trông gây hại (như bọ cánh cứng) thì lá hoặc thân cây bị tổn thương nên ngay khi tìm thấy hãy xử lý chúng.
Vào chính hè hãy chú ý đất bị khô và cung cấp nước vào thời điểm phù hợp.
Từ thời kỳ này gốc đã hoạt động nhiều nên hãy ngừng bón phân.

Mùa Thu (tháng 9 - tháng 11)

Lúc này nắng đã dịu và là thời điểm đón chờ và chiêm ngưỡng lá đỏ (người dịch bổ sung: bên Nhật đã khá lạnh từ cuối tháng 10). Vây nên cần hạn chế trồng lại cây (thay chậu) vào thời điểm này.

Về phong lá đỏ

Giữa hơn 1000 loại phong trên đất Nhật, chúng tôi đã thử nghiệm 32 loài có màu sắc khác nhau tại Việt  Nam. Kết quả cho thấy một số giống có tốc độ sinh trưởng và thích nghi tốt với khí hậu tại đây. Về bonsai?

Đây là từ gốc Nhật (và rất nhiều từ khác bạn đã quen thuộc, kể như: karaoke, karate...) được ghép từ hai âm Hán (do người Nhật cũng dùng chữ Kanji) là BỒN (chậu) và TÀI (trồng). Vậy có thể hiểu đơn giản là cây được trồng thu nhỏ trong chậu. Theo thời gian, bonsai đã trở thành nghệ thuật tại tất cả các quốc gia. Các kỹ thuật bonsai cũng ngày càng hoàn thiện dưới bàn tay các nghệ nhân và khi chiêm ngưỡng một tác phẩm, ta có cảm giác như đang thấy một thế giới thu nhỏ.

 

Và sự khởi nguồn của bonsai?

Từ hơn 2000 năm trước đã có phong tục trang trí bằng cách sử dụng những cây bị gió táp, bị đất lở, bị môi trường sống khắc nghiệt định hình. Những cây này thường có bộ rễ độc đáo, cành tán khúc khuỷu và thân ngoằn nghoèo toát lên dáng vẻ của một con người từng trải và vươn lên trước sóng gió cuộc đời. Tuy nhiên phải tới vài trăm năm sau, bonsai mới thực sự thăng hoa khi người Nhật coi trọng và xem bonsai như một nghệ thuật cao quý. Đến thế kỷ 19, người ta đã biết dùng dây kim loại để định hình cho cây và kỹ thuật đó đang được sử dụng rộng rãi cho tới ngày nay.
